{"id":4681,"date":"2016-05-07T08:00:39","date_gmt":"2016-05-07T15:00:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=4681"},"modified":"2016-09-23T10:56:49","modified_gmt":"2016-09-23T17:56:49","slug":"rose-drive-third-graders-race-snails-make-mothers-day-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=4681","title":{"rendered":"Rose Drive third graders race snails, make Mother&#8217;s Day art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Rose Drive&#8217;s &#8220;Great Snail Race&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\nIn an effort to determine snail behavior and adaptation to their environment, Rose Drive Elementary School third graders enthusiastically set up snail race tracks this week to race their group&#8217;s designated snail. &#8220;Did you say, &#8216;SNAIL RACING&#8217;?&#8221; Well, it would be considered racing for snails. Select snails were gingerly placed at a starting point (the center of race targets), with the goal being to determine which snail made it to the outermost limit of a target in a given time. Students sat back to cheer, observe and, in some cases, coax their snails to the perimeter of the target charts with tasty carrots \u2013 a snail treat! The perfect gift for Mother&#8217;s Day! Students created these portraits with pride, eager to surprise their moms with their masterpieces.
