Rose Drive’s “Great Snail Race”<\/strong>
\nIn an effort to determine snail behavior and adaptation to their environment, Rose Drive Elementary School third graders enthusiastically set up snail race tracks this week to race their group’s designated snail. “Did you say, ‘SNAIL RACING’?” Well, it would be considered racing for snails. Select snails were gingerly placed at a starting point (the center of race targets), with the goal being to determine which snail made it to the outermost limit of a target in a given time. Students sat back to cheer, observe and, in some cases, coax their snails to the perimeter of the target charts with tasty carrots \u2013 a snail treat! Could there be a more thrilling way to learn about snail behavior?<\/p>\n
