Mr. Shenton was nominated by recent VHS International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma graduate and current Stanford freshman Joseph Yen for the positive impact he had in preparing him for success at Stanford.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind and touches a heart,&#8221; said Joseph Yen, Stanford class of 2019. &#8220;Mr. Shenton has done all three for each one of his students. He takes the hands of his students, patiently guiding them and helping them grow. He opens minds to areas beyond chemistry, inspiring passion for learning and building life skills. He touches hearts, lending a shoulder or open ear when his students struggle with time or with life.
