{"id":651,"date":"2015-10-11T10:00:13","date_gmt":"2015-10-11T17:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=651"},"modified":"2016-02-25T15:32:06","modified_gmt":"2016-02-25T23:32:06","slug":"at-mabel-paine-big-buddies-love-reading-to-their-little-buddies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/goodnews.pylusd.org\/?p=651","title":{"rendered":"At Mabel Paine, Big Buddies love reading to their Little Buddies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mrs. Frost&#8217;s Preppy K class at Mabel Paine Elementary School has proven to be\u00a0a great place for our fifth graders to reach out and show their gentler sides.<\/p>\n<p>After visiting the library to select picture books to share, Mrs. Fouladi&#8217;s fifth graders visited their Little Buddies to share their finds. &#8220;It was so fun! I love Mondays now!&#8221; remarked one fifth grader. &#8220;Now I know what kind of book my Little Buddy likes. Next week, I&#8217;m bringing more Dr. Seuss!&#8221; remarked another.<\/p>\n<p>In this quick 20-minute session, several fifth grade Big Buddies are paired with a Little Buddy, and they read a book together. The program has brought a greater sense of responsibility to our students&#8217; time at school. Now, our fifth graders can&#8217;t wait until Mondays. Joining younger students with the older kids invites them out of their classrooms, which builds a strong community on our campus.<\/p>\n<p><a
