Several students from PYLUSD were named finalists in Chapman University’s 18th annual Holocaust Art and Writing Contest, with two taking home first place.<\/p>\n

The awards ceremony took place on Friday, March 10, at Chapman University. This year’s contest theme was “I Have a Story to Tell.” Presented by Chapman’s Rodgers Center for Holocaust Education, the competition is the largest of its kind in the nation. This year, a record-breaking 250 middle and high schools registered to participate, with submissions from 7,000 students representing 30 states and eight countries.<\/p>\n

Notably, PYLUSD was the only school district in the world to have all of its secondary schools take part in this competition \u2014 13 schools total. This level of participation earned PYLUSD a special keepsake plaque from Chapman.<\/p>\n
