Local Professionals Gain Insight Into PYLUSD Schools and Responsibilities of Site Leaders at Annual Principal for a Day Event

On Wednesday, March 18, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD), in collaboration with the Placentia and Yorba Linda chambers of commerce, hosted its annual “Principal for a Day” event. This longstanding tradition provides local business leaders and community members with the opportunity to step into the role of a school principal for a morning, offering firsthand insight into the multifaceted responsibilities of school leadership.

Guest principals had the unique opportunity to explore school campuses, engage with students and staff, and experience a day in the life of a PYLUSD principal. Many participated in morning announcements, toured classrooms, read stories to students, and observed innovative teaching and learning in action. Along the way, they witnessed the district’s commitment to academic excellence, enriched programs, cutting-edge facilities, integrated technology, and strong community partnerships.

Following their campus visits, guest principals joined their host principals, members of the Board of Education, district leaders, and representatives from the local chambers of commerce for a luncheon and collaborative discussion. The luncheon was catered by the culinary arts students from Esperanza, Valencia, and Yorba Linda High Schools. As part of the event, each culinary program prepared a signature dessert, which was auctioned, raising more than $600 in support of student programs.

The Principal for a Day event directly supports The PYLUSD Advantage Focus Area 3.0, “Engaged Community,” which fosters strong partnerships between students, staff, families, businesses, and the broader community.

PYLUSD extends its sincere appreciation to the Placentia and Yorba Linda Chambers of Commerce, as well as all participating community members, for their continued support of local education. Their involvement strengthens the connection between schools and the community, fostering meaningful experiences and lasting benefits for students.
