Morse Elementary Students Engage in Farm-to-School Learning Experience

Morse Elementary School recently partnered with Old Grove Orange to provide students with an engaging and educational Farm to School Mini Farmers’ Market experience. This initiative offered transitional kindergarten through fifth-grade students a hands-on opportunity to explore the nutritional value of fruits and vegetables while fostering connections with local agricultural producers.

During the event, Farmer Jackie provided insight into daily life on a working farm, offering students a deeper understanding of the processes involved in cultivating fresh produce. She introduced a variety of fruits and vegetables available at the market, highlighting the unique nutritional benefits of each item and explaining how these foods contribute to overall health and well-being. Her dynamic presentation and meaningful engagement enhanced students’ learning experiences.

A key component of the event allowed students to apply their knowledge in a practical setting. Each student selected three items of their choice, thoughtfully considering the nutritional information presented. This interactive experience promoted informed decision-making and encouraged healthy eating habits. Students expressed enthusiasm as they selected fruits and vegetables to take home, extending the learning experience beyond the classroom and into their households.
