Wagner Elementary Celebrates Inclusion Through World Down Syndrome Day

At Wagner Elementary School, fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging remains a priority. In recognition of World Down Syndrome Day, students participated in activities to build awareness and understanding of Down syndrome.

Students created unique socks for a campus display and participated in a schoolwide “Rock Your Socks” day, wearing colorful, mismatched socks to show support. Observed annually on March 21 (3/21), the day represents the triplication of the 21st chromosome, often symbolized by socks.

The event also featured participation from the school’s Principal for a Day. With seven students on campus identified as having Down syndrome, Wagner Elementary continues to celebrate diversity and promote a strong sense of belonging for all students.
