Yorba Linda High hosts Future Business Leaders of America workshops

On Saturday, Sept. 24, Yorba Linda High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) chapter hosted the Southern Section FBLA Officer and Adviser Training (OAT) Day. The Southern Section consists of high schools located in Southern California. This event was attended by officers of their respective chapters, including the new board at YLHS: Harshal Vaza, Sumesh Rawal, Nick Ding, Simran Chowdhry, Emily Remer, Ravi Patel and Richard Yoo. With over 150 in attendance, OAT Day was a huge success! Chapter leaders attended student-led workshops and teambuilding activities. These workshops taught student leaders to both manage and grow their chapters.

The Ambassadorship workshop taught attendees the duties, responsibilities and characteristics that a section leader needs. This inspired two YLHS officers to run for Southern Section officers for the upcoming school year. Good luck Simran and Nick! During the Chapter Management workshop, members learned that running a chapter means running a positive and effective team through leadership and interconnection. The State Projects and Business Achievement Awards workshop described events that chapters could compete in. State Projects are competitions in which FBLA chapters compete to earn the coveted Business Achievement Award. The last workshop was Sponsorship and Fundraisers where ideas were shared on how to raise money for chapters, schools and communities.

Each YLHS FBLA board member learned how to become a better business leader. The workshops taught the values of teamwork and responsibilities. OAT Day also educated members on the importance of participating in competitive events, as well as giving back to the community. Yorba Linda High School’s chapter has already doubled in size this year. YLHS looks forward to another successful year!
