In the month of October, Miss Benner’s first through third grade students at Fairmont Elementary School enjoyed a visit from the Bernardo Yorba Middle School student leadership team. Students in her class enjoyed reading with, working on puzzles, and playing collaborative games with their middle school buddies.
The eight peer volunteers from Bernardo were accompanied by their teacher, Mr. Kish. The visit, the first of several collaborative visits planned for the year, ended with a dance party.
“It started our day off wonderful,” shared Miss Benner. “All the students that participated benefited from the experience.”
