On Sunday, April 15, the Orange County Register announced the 2018 OC Varsity Arts Artist of the Year semi-finalists for theater, including Yorba Linda High School (YLHS) senior Ian Dembek.
From a list of 106 nominees, Ian was selected among 12 other semi-finalists by a panel of teachers based on written statements, performance videos or design portfolios, and artistic résumés.
According to the Orange County Register, the students will now move on to be interviewed by a panel of distinguished artistic professionals and faculty members from Southern California universities, as well as a few high school teacher representatives. Finalists in each category will be named, and then the 2018 Artists of the Year will be announced on Sunday, April 22.
