On March 9, 2019, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) sponsored its first annual Wellness Fair at Melrose Elementary School and Valadez Middle School Academy. McKinney Vento families from around the District were invited to attend.
At the event, PYLUSD parents were treated to information from over 30 health and wellness organizations, Love and Logic classes, as well as Aeries tutorials from Valencia High School faculty members and District personnel. Additionally, the event also featured the AYUDA Dental Clinic that was sponsored by the local Rotary Club and USC Dental School. AYUDA is a non-profit organization that provides free dental care to those in need.
Eastside Christian Church sponsored lunch for all in attendance, as well as provided an abundance of volunteers in support of their annual Serve Day. Besides assisting at the Fair, volunteers also spent the day cleaning up both PYLUSD campuses. They even helped prepare food for distribution to all of the families who arrived for the Wellness Fair.
Students were treated to special art and science classes presented by District teachers and personnel. Students in attendance were able to make up for days missed during the school year.
All in all, a great time was had by everyone and a lot of information was provided to attendees from the various organizations who participated.
“PYLUSD would like to give a special thanks to Eastside Christian Church for assisting us in organizing the event and for all of their generosity!” shared Jon Matson, McKinney Vento liaison.
