Valencia students take part in Resident Leadership Academy

VHS RLA.

The Resident Leadership Academy (RLA) empowers local community members with the knowledge, tools, strategies, and commitment to make positive changes at the neighborhood level, increasing the quality of life to all residents that participate.

Valencia High School (VHS) students participated in a six week, one hour per week training to complete the course. Notably, 46 students graduated from the course. The students broke off into four separate groups regarding different public health topics. The four projects are focused around mental health, vaping and tobacco use in teens, restroom safety, and homelessness in the City of Placentia.

The students presented their projects to the Mayor of Placentia, Rhonda Shader, and Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Board of Education President, Carrie Buck.
