On April 20, the Orange County Constitutional Rights Foundation held its annual Mock Trial Award Ceremony. Besides getting their awards for being Finalists in Orange County, four members of the El Dorado High School Mock Trial program were given individual awards. This includes:

  • Sahiba Chowdhary (9th grade) and Nathan Lee (12th grade) for Outstanding Pretrial Attorney
  • Mia Demonte (10th grade) and Lucy Cavalluzzi 12th grade) for Outstanding Attorney.

The headline news of the night was that EDHS senior Lucy Cavalluzzi was awarded the Judge Henry Moore Outstanding Orator Award for all of Orange County! Lucy’s win continues El Dorado’s sterling legacy with this award.

In fact, EDHS was the first school with a female winner of this award and the first school with a pretrial winner. They were also the first with a winner rostered as a witness that year and is the school that has won the award the most times. Past winners include the likes of Colby Bladow and Gerard Gully. Lastly, EDHS is the only school to have won the award in every decade! Way to go, Golden Hawks!
