Over 375 Students Participate in Annual Middle School Track Meet in Partnership with REACH Foundation

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) hosted its annual Middle School Track Meet at Nathan Shapell Memorial Stadium, located on the campus of Yorba Linda High School. This signature event, which receives annual support from the REACH Foundation, brought together approximately 375 student-athletes from six district middle schools to participate in a variety of athletic competitions, including high jump, long-distance running, long jump, sprints, and other track and field events. Participating schools included the OCSCS Matadors, Kraemer Cubs, Travis Ranch Trailblazers, Tuffree Falcons, Valadez Eagles, and Yorba Linda Bobcats.

Medals and ribbons were awarded to the top three finishers in each event during formal podium ceremonies, celebrating the achievements of the district’s young athletes. The meet represented the fifth and final competition in the District’s expanded Middle School Athletics program for the 2024–2025 school year, which also included volleyball, cross country, flag football, and wrestling. Students across all participating schools demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and sportsmanship, earning recognition for both individual and team efforts.

The successful execution of the event was made possible through the leadership of Middle School Athletics Coordinator Sarah Barton, as well as the ongoing support of the REACH Foundation. REACH, a volunteer-driven, education-focused 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, plays a vital role in advancing academics, athletics, and the arts for students district-wide. The continued partnership between PYLUSD and the REACH Foundation ensures that enriching extracurricular opportunities remain accessible to all students.
