On Thursday, October 23, Travis Ranch Middle School welcomed the Orange County Sheriff’s Department (OCSD) for its second educational presentation focused on e-bike safety. School Resource Officer Lee and Officer Mobley engaged a full room of students during lunch in Mrs. Carlos’ classroom, providing valuable insights into the responsible and lawful use of electric bicycles.
The officers discussed both current and emerging e-bike regulations within the state of California and the city of Yorba Linda. They shared real-life examples involving accidents, impound fines, and property damage cases that the department has encountered in recent months. These accounts underscored the importance of understanding and following traffic laws, wearing protective gear, and exercising caution when riding in the community.
Throughout the presentation, students actively participated, asking thoughtful and informed questions that reflected their interest in the topic. Officers Lee and Mobley also encouraged open communication by providing the department’s non-emergency contact number, emphasizing that students should never hesitate to reach out for guidance or assistance.
Travis Ranch Middle School extends its gratitude to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department for its continued partnership and commitment to student safety. The department’s efforts to build positive relationships with young learners help reinforce the district’s mission to create informed, responsible citizens who contribute to a safe and connected community.
