El Dorado and Yorba Linda High School Student Journalists Gain Real-World Experience at National Journalism Conference in New York City

From October 30- November 4, student journalists from Yorba Linda High School (YLHS) and El Dorado High School (EDHS) participated in an immersive educational experience in New York City. During their visit, students explored historic and culturally significant sites while also sharpening their media production skills through collaborative learning.

A central component of the trip included attending the Columbia Scholastic Press Association Conference at Columbia University. Students engaged in professional workshops focused on reporting, photography, editing, design, and storytelling. These sessions were led by experienced media professionals and nationally recognized journalists, offering students valuable insights into the evolving world of modern publications.

Participants left the conference with renewed motivation, a deeper understanding of journalistic integrity, and innovative ideas to enhance their school-based media programs, including The Wrangler, yearbook publications, and student video production teams. This experience served as a meaningful opportunity for students to expand their skills while preparing for future academic and professional endeavors in media, communications, and digital storytelling.
