On Thursday, August 13 the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) proudly welcomed over 22,500 students for the first day of the 2026-2027 school year.
Excitement and anticipation filled the air across all campuses. Students of all ages eagerly reunited with friends, met their new teachers and staff, and embarked on another year of growth and learning!
In preparation for the new year, Superintendent Dr. Kym LeBlanc-Esparza shared this message with staff and families: “During the first week of school, I had the privilege of visiting every campus across our district. Seeing more than 22,000 students walk through our school gates, greeted by caring teachers, dedicated staff, and supportive administrators, was a powerful reminder of what makes PYLUSD such a special place. There is an unmistakable energy on our campuses and a shared commitment to ensuring every student feels welcomed, valued, and ready to learn.”
