On Wednesday, August 19, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) proudly hosted its 2026 Summer Graduation Ceremony in the District Board Room. This special event marked the sixth annual celebration, honoring five dedicated students who either graduated early or were unable to graduate in June but have since achieved this significant milestone.
The graduates, dressed in their caps and gowns, entered the ceremony to the traditional “Pomp and Circumstance,” their faces glowing with pride as they walked before an audience of supportive family members and friends.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Board President Carrie Buck, Vice President Tricia Quintero, Trustee Marilyn Anderson, and Superintendent Dr. Kym LeBlanc-Esparza. Also present were Director of Secondary Education Michael Young; El Dorado High School Assistant Principal Sage Newman and Counselor Sarah Miller; Esperanza High School Principal Kelly Molina; Parkview School Principal Dominique Polchow; and Valencia High School Principal Chris Herzfeld and Counselor Trina Hartman—all there to celebrate and support their students’ achievements.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome and the Pledge of Allegiance led by Michael Young, followed by remarks from Superintendent Dr. Kym LeBlanc-Esparza, who addressed the graduates with heartfelt praise and encouragement.
Mr. Young then officially confirmed that each student had met all graduation requirements established by PYLUSD and the State of California. As they did, their principals shared personal reflections on each student’s high school journey and aspirations for the future.
The ceremony culminated with Mr. Young officially presenting the Class of 2026. The room filled with cheers and applause as the graduates celebrated their accomplishments before reuniting with their loved ones.
This year’s graduates included Melany Fonseca and Danny Perez from El Dorado High School; Noah Mocanu from Esperanza High School; Emily Ore from Parkview School; and Karyme Olivares from Valencia High School.
