PYLUC holds annual service awards dinner

On Wednesday, June 1, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified Council of PTAs and PTSAs (PYLUC) had their annual Honorary Service Awards and Installation Dinner at Alta Vista Country Club. At this event, several end-of-year honors were presented.

The first award winner was Tanya Cervantes, PTA President at Melrose Elementary School. Tanya was given the group’s Very Special Person Award for her significant efforts in bringing PTA back to Melrose. The Very Special Person Award recognizes individuals or organizations that have contributed to the school community in a special way.

The next award winners were Natalie Odenbumi (not pictured), one of the current PYLUC vice presidents, and Shelley Jones, PYLUC president. They were presented with Honorary Service Awards. This award is given to recognize an individual or organization for outstanding service to children and youth in your community, going above and beyond what is asked of them.

Finally, Superintendent Dr. Doug Domene was given the Golden Oaks Service Award. This is the most prestigious PTA award in California. This award may be given to an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to the welfare of children and youth in the school or community.

All monies collected from this program will be used exclusively to fund the California State PTA Scholarship and Grant Program.

Congrats to all award winners!
