Sierra Cuesta, a 2016 graduate of Esperanza High School, was surprised by 20 Los Angeles Police Department officers at last night’s commencement ceremony at Shapell Stadium. Sierra’s father, Fil Cuesta, was killed in the line of duty 17 years ago, and his partners made a pledge to look out their former partner’s daughter Sierra and her sister. Sierra’s mother Sylvia works for PYLUSD as a State Preschool teacher at Rio Vista Elementary School.
