The goal of the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Nutrition Services Department is to provide students with fresh, nutritious, and delicious food. The facilities at Yorba Linda High School have given the department the opportunity to provide open food service to Mustang students.
In the “Mustang Corral”, hungry customers are able to choose from a daily variety of different food station concepts. The majority of the menu provides students the opportunity to create their own meal. The kitchen provides a variety of proteins, whole grain items, steamed vegetables, and fresh cut fruit. The Mustang Corral room has not been utilized in this capacity since 2009 when the school opened.
It is the hope of Nutrition Services to drive open service throughout the entire school district. As the department looks forward to the next site, they will focus on the availability of facilities to enable this type of service.
