On Wednesday, June 12, Yorba Linda High School (YLHS) held its 2024 commencement ceremony in Nathan Shapell Memorial Stadium where 404 Mustangs were awarded their high school diplomas.
Notably, 88% of those seniors have enrolled to continue their education in two or four-year colleges or universities following graduation while seven have enlisted in the military. The YLHS Class of 2024 earned $3.1 million dollars in scholarships.
The ceremony included honored guests such as Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Board of Education President Leandra Blades and Trustee Carrie Buck as well as Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Olivia Yaung, Directors Gina Aguilar and Alyssa Griffiths, and Principal Dr. Richard Dinh.
Student speakers for the ceremony included Libby Haye, Brady Nguyen, and Kaitlyn Wu, who all shared notes of encouragement to their fellow graduates and gratitude for their high school experience. Kaitlyn and fellow student Ethan Yang were identified as this year’s Mustang valedictorians.
Dr. Dinh also addressed the graduating students, sharing his excitement for the Class of 2024 and the milestone year at YLHS. “This year, Yorba Linda High School celebrated 15 years of running with the STAMPEDE. It is my joy and honor to celebrate the graduating class of 2024 from Yorba Linda High School!”
The district echos Dr. Dinh’s statement. Congratulations, Mustangs!
