El Dorado Choral Music sells out “Holiday Tinsel” with first ever alumni performance

El Dorado High School's performance of Tinsel.

On Wednesday, December 20, El Dorado High School (EDHS) Choral Music rang in the season with their annual performance of “Holiday Tinsel.”  For the first time ever, the program completely sold out 600+ seats in the school district’s Performing Arts Center (PAC).

All 150 Golden Hawk singers presented an excellent experience of music that brought everyone in the audience to their feet. Audience members enjoyed the sounds of Concert Choir, Men’s Choir, Advanced Women’s Ensemble, Vocal Ensemble, and multiple student soloists conducted by Director of Choral Music, Mr. Ryan Yoder.

The program was very thankful and honored to have two Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) school board members, Carrie Buck and Carol Downey, Deputy Superintendent, Candy Plahy, and Director of Instructional Support, Carrie Bisgard in attendance to support the arts.

In recognition of the rich tradition at EDHS, the program invited Choir Alumni to participate in the singing of the Hallelujah Chorus with Vocal Ensemble and Advanced Women’s Ensemble at the end of the first act.  Forty alumni returned to the campus for this performance spanning from the classes of 1972 to 2017.

“It was inspiring to see current and former EDHS Choir members come together for this spectacular performance,” Yoder shared.  “This will certainly be a tradition in the Choral Department for years to come!”
