For a second year, Woodsboro Elementary School students participated in a community service project sponsored by the Disneyland Resort for all 6th graders in the City of Anaheim. The ten year “Happiest Class on Earth” project requires students to participate together in an endeavor that gives back to the community.
The sixth graders worked hard all year recycling aluminum cans and plastic bottles. The Honey Bees collected over $1,500 to purchase materials to create more than 250 individual hygiene kits for displaced families living in emergency housing. The students also wrote personal notes of encouragement that they placed in each kit as they assembled them. The kits will be delivered to the Orange County Social Services Department where they will be used as “emergency stock” to help whenever needed.
In recognition of their service, Disneyland Resort will provide these students and their teachers with an end-of-year field trip to Disneyland. Great job, Woodsboro!
