On May 4, Valencia High School (VHS) held their annual AVID Senior Signing Day for the class of 2018 in the Auditorium. The seniors received “Accepted to College” t-shirts and certificates of recognition for their post-secondary destination. The students’ accomplishments at Valencia and advice to future AVID scholars were read aloud by teachers Brandon Frank and Corinna Harnett.

With 9th through 11th grade AVID students in attendance, the seniors were also each recognized for their overall GPA, their extra-curricular and community service accomplishments, and all of the schools where they were accepted. The VHS AVID class of 2018 finishes their K-12 education experience strong, with 100% of this year’s graduating class pursuing post-secondary education, despite the fact that 90% of them will be the first in their family to do so.
