Yorba Linda High senior tabbed as a top young scientist

Congratulations to Yorba Linda High School (YLHS) senior, Andrew Song, for his selection by the Society for Science and the Public and Regeneron as one of the top 300 young scientists of the 78th annual Regeneron Science Talent Search. His AP Chemistry Teacher, Tiffany Ward, was also recognized as a result of Andrew’s distinction.

Both Andrew and Mrs. Ward received certificates and $2,000 each. Andrew will use his to further his education, while Mrs. Ward will use hers to in benefit of her AP Chemistry class.

The Regeneron Science Talent Search scholars were selected from 1,964 applications, which were received from 601 high schools in 48 states, two U.S. territories and eligible students living in seven other countries. The scholars were selected based on their exceptional research skills, commitment to academics, innovative thinking and promise as scientists. This year, research projects cover topics from bioengineering to environmental science to physics.

“Great job Andrew and thank you Mrs. Ward for inspiring your students. It is great to be a Mustang,” shared the school’s proud principal, Dave Flynn.
