Valencia High School (VHS) recently partnered with Orange County Department of Education’s (OCDE) “I’ve Got Your Back” program to host a 2-day Anti-Bullying Program to empower students on campus to be ambassadors of change.
During day one of the program, school counselors selected 25 students from across campus to participate in a half day training with Danny Carrillo from OCDE. These students pledged to be the eyes and ears of the campus and to promote an anti-bullying environment.
Day two of the training was held on Friday, May 3 and brought together 9th through 11th grade students to hear from Mark Munoz, a former UFC fighter. Munoz addressed students with his personal story, and his own experiences dealing with bullies as a teenager and how his family and friends played an integral part in inspiring him to rise above it.
The presentation concluded with an original poem by junior, Tomi Lauttenhauer, and a pledge to take a stand against bullying.
Way to go, Tigers!
