On Thursday, June 13, Valencia High School (VHS) held its 84th commencement ceremony where 635 seniors were presented their high school diploma in Bradford Stadium.

The VHS Class of 2019 included 76 candidates for International Baccalaureate (IB) diplomas and 89 Val Tech diploma recipients, as well as 160 distinguished scholars, and 123 collegiate scholars. Impressively, 91% of the graduates have committed to attending a two or four-year college/university following high school.

Thursday’s ceremony included honored guests such as Board of Education President, Carrie Buck, Clerk, Judi Carmona, and Trustee, Carol Downey, as well as Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Superintendent, Dr. Greg Plutko, Deputy Superintendent, Candy Plahy, Assistant Superintendent, Rick Lopez, Directors Nancy Blade and Dr. Linda Adamson, and Principal Olivia Yaung.

Students Saleem Haider and Emily Berg both delivered speeches filled with reflective memories and heartfelt gratitude towards VHS, fellow graduates, and supportive loved ones.

After Principal Yaung congratulated the Class of 2019 and instructed the students to turn their tassels from right to left, the stadium roared with cheers for the Tigers.

Congratulations, graduates!
