In August, Cornerstone United Methodist Church of Placentia designated their missions’ funds, which are used to benefit those in our local community, to the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) McKinney Vento program.
According to Stacey Wong (pictured above), who organized the project, the committee felt it was important to use their funds to help PYLUSD students in need of school supplies. Mrs. Wong commented, “It is a blessing for us to get to know our neighbors.”
“We continue to be overwhelmed by the community support we receive from so many wonderful organizations, such as Cornerstone Methodist,” Jon Matson, PYLUSD McKinney Vento Liaison, commented. “We truly could not do what we do for our students without their support. Thank you, Cornerstone Methodist!”
McKinney Vento is a federal program for students who are living in transitional situations such as doubled or tripled up with other families for economic reasons, or living in homeless shelters, campgrounds, or cars.
