The week of February 28-March 4, Travis Ranch School hosted its annual community read event as part of Read Across America. Distinguished community members read their favorite books to TK through 5th-grade students.
Guest readers included Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Elsasser, Yorba Linda Mayor Carlos Rodriguez, Orange County Sheriff’s Department School Resource Officer Deputy Nick Doty, Yorba Linda Librarians, Miss Placentia, Miss Yorba Linda, Orange County Fire Station 32, John Force (racing), parent readers, and former teacher readers!
“Our students are so lucky to have such wonderful volunteers engage with them and support our school-wide literacy efforts,” Principal Dr. Taylor Holloway shared.
Launched in 1998 by the National Education Association (NEA), Read Across America Day was created as a way to encourage children to read. It later developed into a year-round program, with special celebrations each March.
