On November 19, the El Dorado Golden Hawk Marching Band competed in the Southern California 6A Championships hosted by the Southern California School Band and Orchestra Association (SCSBOA). They were one of twelve groups to compete in the 6A Class which hosts some of the biggest and best marching bands in Southern California.
The Golden Hawks took 3rd place overall which earned them the Bronze Medal for the 2nd consecutive year.
“We are very proud of how our students performed at Championships,” said Eric Samson, Band Director. “We battled a lot of illnesses prior to the event but they responded with a great performance. Any of the top 6 groups could have earned the medal that night and we were honored to receive the Bronze.”
The El Dorado Color Guard took top honors and won the “High Auxiliary Award” which is given to the best group of the night. This is the first time that El Dorado has earned this award and they did so with a score of a 97 out of 100 possible points.
SCSBOA Championships was a great way to end another marching season for the Golden Hawks!
