On Monday, September 11th, Fairmont students, teachers, and families gathered together on the blacktop to remember September 11, 2001.
Mrs. San Roman and Mrs. Cooan greeted the audience and briefly summarized the events that took place on that day. Dressed in red, white, and blue, students stood together to say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the national anthem, led by the Girl Scouts Honor Guard and the Bernardo Yorba Middle School band. Students shared special poems and presented different ways to show kindness and help others.
Active and retired fire, police, and military personnel were invited to the special ceremony to be recognized and honored. They were invited to stand with their child(ren) in front of the stage as students passed out “Thank You” cards to the heroes who serve or served our country. The ceremony concluded as students proudly sang “This Land is Your Land.” The staff and students of Fairmont Elementary were glad to have the opportunity to express their gratitude for all of our courageous heroes.
