PYLUSD Welcomes Over 100 New Teachers with Special Orientation Breakfast

New Hire Breakfast Welcomes 101 Teachers to PYLUSD

On Monday, August 12, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District held a special breakfast to welcome 101 newly hired teachers. The event, organized by the district’s Educational Services SPARK team and Human Resources Department, was a collaborative effort involving Risk Management, Technology, the Induction Program, and the Association of Placentia Linda Educators (APLE).

The orientation provided an opportunity for the new teachers to meet their administrators and coworkers, ask questions about benefits, set up their email accounts, and participate in a raffle sponsored by SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union.

Superintendent Dr. Alex Cherniss officially welcomed the certificated staff, while several members of the Board of Education were in attendance, including President Leandra Blades and Trustee Carrie Buck. The event also featured a strong presence from district leadership, including Deputy Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. Issaic Gates, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services Dr. Olivia Yaung, Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services Renee Gray, Executive Director of Human Resources Nancy Blade, Executive Director of Elementary Education Dr. Liz Leon, Director of Secondary Education Michael Young, Executive Director of College and Career Readiness Dr. Will Gray, and Assistant Director of Federal Programs Jose Cabrera.

The breakfast served as a warm and welcoming start to the new school year, setting a positive tone for the district’s latest educators as they begin their journey with PYLUSD.
