El Dorado Senior Luke Gilstrap Sworn in as Next Student Member on the Board of Education

El Dorado High School senior Luke Gilstrap was sworn in as the new Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Student Board Member on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. His term will last throughout the first semester of the school year.

As the Student Board Member, Luke will prepare a monthly report to present at each Board Meeting. His reports will highlight recent activities and events occurring on the district’s high school and alternative school campuses. He will also cast preferential votes on important matters related to the school district.

Luke attended elementary and middle school in Fullerton, where his mom is an elementary school teacher, before coming to Placentia-Yorba Linda for high school at El Dorado. As a senior, Luke serves the Golden Hawks as ASB President. In this elected role, he has a long list of important responsibilities, including planning school-wide events and activities, exemplifying school spirit, overseeing budgets, and much more.

In addition to ASB, Luke plays lacrosse and can be found center stage performing in theater outside of school.

Following graduation, beginning in Fall 2024, Luke hopes to follow in his parents’ footsteps and attend their alma mater Cal State Fullerton to study Business. Luke has a strong support system behind him with his mom, Cristina, dad, Jeffery, and sister, Lexie an EDHS alumni!

The district is incredibly pleased that Luke has agreed to serve as the Student Board Member during his final semester in PYLUSD.
