On May 20, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Board of Education hosted a heartwarming event to celebrate the 42 Community Honorees at the Forum Theater at Yorba Linda High School. This annual tradition honors the remarkable contributions of volunteers from each of the district’s 34 school sites, along with the adult education program.
These dedicated volunteers generously donate their time, energy, and talents to support PYLUSD’s mission of inspiring students through rigorous and relevant educational experiences. Their efforts help shape students into responsible, ethical, and contributing citizens. The honorees exemplify PYLUSD’s core values of excellence, collaboration, integrity, and innovation, playing a vital role in the district’s success.
Dr. Liz Leon, Executive Director of Elementary Education, and Mr. Jose Cabrera, Assistant Director of Federal Programs, each highlighted the unique contributions of the honorees. They presented each volunteer with a “You Are the Advantage” certificate of achievement, a symbol of the district’s gratitude and recognition. School principals accompanied their honorees, offering personal acknowledgments and handshakes with Board of Education members and district leaders. In addition, each honoree received a PYLUSD challenge coin as a token of appreciation.
The Forum Theater was filled with loved ones, coworkers, and community members who gathered to celebrate and cheer for the honorees. The ceremony not only recognized the exceptional efforts of these volunteers but also underscored the importance of community support in achieving the district’s educational goals.
