On Tuesday, January 14, the inaugural middle school flag football scrimmage of the season took place, marking an exciting milestone for the Middle School Athletics (MSA) program within the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD). Flag football has become a highly anticipated addition to the MSA offerings, generating enthusiasm and engagement across the district.
All six middle schools—Bernardo Yorba, Kraemer, Travis Ranch, Tuffree, Valadez, and Yorba Linda—participated in two inter-school scrimmages, highlighting the collaborative spirit of the program. The event attracted substantial support from parents, students, and staff, who gathered to witness over 320 young athletes take the field for the first time.
The next scrimmage is scheduled for January 21, presenting another opportunity for the community to rally behind these promising athletes. Additionally, preparations are underway for the district championship, set to take place on January 27 at El Dorado High School. This culminating event will allow student-athletes to demonstrate their skills and determination in a competitive and celebratory atmosphere.
