On Friday, February 14, Ruby Drive Elementary School hosted its annual AVID Parent Showcase and Lunch with a Loved One, inviting families to engage with the school’s academic programs. The event commenced with a comprehensive overview of the Ruby Drive AVID program, presented by Principal Ms. Carmona. In the Multi-Purpose Room (MPR), families were introduced to the organizational systems and work samples that reflect the WICORized “AVID” instructional model. Following the informative session, families had the opportunity to enjoy lunch together before being guided on a campus-wide tour.
Classroom doors were opened, allowing families to visit each grade level and observe the implementation of the AVID program in action. Students served as enthusiastic tour guides, escorting their families through the classrooms while demonstrating how the WICORized “AVID” model is applied across various subjects and grade levels. This immersive experience provided families with a deeper understanding of the AVID framework and its impact on student learning and success at Ruby Drive Elementary.
