PYLUSD Family Wellness Summit Fosters Community Connection and Support

On Friday, March 28, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) hosted its Family Wellness Summit at Melrose Elementary, offering a significant opportunity for families to engage with local organizations, agencies, and community partners dedicated to the well-being of students and families. This event proved to be a resounding success, bringing together families and community members for an evening focused on connection, education, and support.

The event featured a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, with attendees enjoying delicious tacos and lively music provided by DJ Victor “Aeden” Leon, a talented student from Valencia High School, who maintained a high energy level throughout the evening. The resource fair included a diverse array of local partners, such as the OC Health Care Agency, Waymakers, CalOptima, Healthy Smiles, Rotary Club of Placentia and Western Youth Services, all offering essential services and support to families. Notably, Roshan Ambegaonkar, a Red Cross Ambassador for Water Safety from Yorba Linda High School, shared his expertise on water safety, emphasizing the student-community collaboration that was central to the event.

Workshop sessions during the evening offered valuable insights on substance use prevention, opioid overdose training, and strategies for effective parenting and improved communication with children. Additionally, discussions on screen time awareness helped attendees recognize the impact of digital overuse and provided strategies to promote healthier technology habits.

As the evening drew to a close, attendees were treated to exciting giveaways, further enhancing the sense of community and appreciation for all participants.
