Melrose Elementary Hosts Literacy Night Enhancing Early Literacy through Bilingual Engagement

On Thursday, March 6, Melrose Elementary School hosted a TK-1st Grade Family Literacy Night, an event that welcomed over thirty-five families. The evening’s activities centered around the story of Señorita Mariposa, an engaging journey designed to foster language development and literacy skills. Teachers organized a series of interactive center activities that emphasized vocabulary acquisition, phonics, and comprehension. These hands-on learning experiences encouraged active participation from both students and their families. At the conclusion of the event, each family was given a copy of the book, available in both English and Spanish, to support continued literacy growth at home.
