Van Buren TK Students Explore the Fascinating World of Insects

At Van Buren Elementary, students in Mrs. Gomez’s Transitional Kindergarten class are exploring the fascinating world of insects through hands-on learning as part of their science unit. Using real insects and digital microscopes, students are observing life cycles while building scientific vocabulary such as metamorphosis, larvae, pupa, and chrysalis.

The classroom science center features caterpillars, ladybug larvae, and harvest ants, giving students the opportunity to closely observe insects and record their findings. Through these engaging experiences, Van Buren’s youngest learners are developing curiosity and foundational scientific knowledge while witnessing the process of metamorphosis firsthand.
