Esperanza High School Wrestling Shines at CIF Masters Championships

Esperanza High School Wrestling delivered an exceptional performance at the CIF Southern Section Masters Championships, with both the boys and girls programs showcasing the strength, depth, and competitive excellence of Aztec wrestling.

The boys team finished an outstanding 2nd overall, firmly establishing itself among California’s elite programs. The Aztecs were powered by an incredible group of individual champions, as Max Murillo, Samuel Sanchez, Giovani Suarez, Aaron Meza, Dimetry Molina, and Gabriel Barragan each captured 1st place finishes, leading the way with dominant performances. In total, 12 wrestlers qualified for the CIF State Championships, highlighting the depth of the program. State qualifiers include Gio Suarez, Max Murillo, Samy Sanchez, Aaron Meza, Dimetry Molina, Gabe Barragan, James Ruiz, Jude Holiday, James Holiday, Jojo Guardado, Marcello Calavitta, and Mateo Centeno.

On the girls side, Esperanza placed 12th overall in a highly competitive field and qualified two wrestlers for the CIF State Championships. Samantha “Sammy” Cornejo, a sophomore, and Jaedis Brady, a senior, both delivered outstanding performances to advance to state.

Competing at one of the most demanding tournaments in California, Esperanza Wrestling rose to the challenge with a complete team effort. From dominant championship runs to hard-fought battles through the consolation bracket, the Aztecs demonstrated resilience, determination, and high-level execution across both programs.

With strong momentum and a talented group advancing, Esperanza Wrestling now turns its focus to the CIF State Championships with confidence and pride. Congratulations to all of our wrestlers and coaching staff on an incredible CIF performance!
