On Saturday, March 5, 30 high school students from throughout the district got a jump-start on their college application by attending a special student-focused Parent University session focused on crafting the perfect college essay. This workshop was taught by PYLUSD teachers Noelle Toxqui and Desi St. Amant. Topics included common essay questions, and how to address prompts to showcase strengths. Time was also devoted to writing the application essay in a computer lab with the oversight of experienced teachers. At the end of the two classes, students will walk away with a draft of their essays. The next session is Saturday, March 26.
