Esperanza High School recently hosted its annual Show Choir Competition, welcoming more than 2,000 students representing 31 choirs from 16 middle and high schools across California for a full weekend of performances and collaboration.
The event has quickly earned a reputation as one of the premier show choir competitions in the state. Directors, students, and parents consistently shared that Esperanza’s competition is among their favorite events to attend within California’s high school show choir circuit. Guests praised the outstanding sound quality, facilities, and technical support provided in the Performing Arts Center, which helped create a professional and memorable experience for both performers and audiences.
In addition to the exceptional performances, visiting schools highlighted the kindness, professionalism, and organization demonstrated by Esperanza students and parent volunteers throughout the event. Their efforts showcased the welcoming culture of Esperanza High School and reflected positively on the broader district community.
The success of the competition was made possible through strong collaboration across the district, including support in securing additional rehearsal and staging spaces at El Dorado High School. This flexibility ensured the event ran smoothly and provided a positive experience for all participants.
Due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback and continued growth of the event, Esperanza plans to host the competition again next year on February 26–27, with the possibility of expanding the event to include an additional day as interest continues to grow.
The competition served as a meaningful opportunity to showcase the talent, hospitality, and commitment to excellence demonstrated by students, staff, and volunteers at Esperanza High School and across the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District.
