On Friday, March 13, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Communications Department has been recognized with four statewide honors through the Excellence in Communication Awards program presented by the California School Public Relations Association.
PYLUSD received three Awards of Excellence and one Award of Merit, recognizing exemplary achievement in strategic communication, social media engagement, branding, and community outreach. The awards were presented at CalSPRA’s Annual Conference on March 13, 2026, in San Jose, California.

The District’s Communications Department, led by Public & Media Relations Specialist Lorely Meza, serves as the central hub for districtwide communications. The department is responsible for ensuring clear, consistent, and accessible messaging while supporting school sites and departments across a variety of platforms.
Meza noted that the recognition reflects the District’s broader commitment to effective communication practices. She emphasized that, as a single-person communications operation, the acknowledgment highlights both the intentional systems developed to enhance communication and the ongoing efforts to increase transparency, accessibility, and community engagement.
CalSPRA’s Excellence in Communication Awards program recognizes outstanding work aligned to strategic goals through high-quality communications and public relations initiatives. Submissions are evaluated by communication professionals based on criteria including research, planning, implementation, and measurable impact.
The California School Public Relations Association is a nationally recognized leader in school communications, supporting professionals throughout California in strengthening public education through effective, transparent, and community-centered communication practices.
