El Dorado High School Celebrates its Class of 2026

El Dorado High School (EDHS) held its commencement ceremony on Wednesday, June 10, in Bradford Stadium. The Golden Hawk Class of 20256 included 507 graduating seniors, 89% of whom have committed to attending a two- or four-year college or university following graduation.

The ceremony featured honored guests such as Board of Education Vice President Tricia Quintero Trustee Marilyn Anderson, Trustee Todd Frazier, Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District (PYLUSD) Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kym LeBlanc-Esparza, Director Secondary Education Mr. Michael Young, and Principal Michael Zides.

Students Christine Sweet, Zoe Kim and Lauren Gei addressed their peers and the crowded stadium with words of reflection, wisdom, and inspiration, sharing their experiences as Golden Hawks.

Principal Zides also addressed graduates and their families, sharing, “Great students come from great families, and El Dorado is fortunate to have the very best. To the Class of 2026, thank you for the way you welcomed, supported, and cared for our freshmen this year, including me, as a first-year principal at EDHS. It has been an honor to be part of your journey.”

Upon receiving their diplomas, the Golden Hawks tossed their caps into the air, signifying the end of their time in PYLUSD.

Notably, four seniors from the Class of 2026 helped lead the Girls Basketball team to a California State Championship title. The graduating class has also earned more than $2.8 million in scholarships recognizing academic, athletic, and other outstanding achievements. Among the class, 127 students earned the Seal of Biliteracy, 71 were recognized as Collegiate Scholars, 81 as Distinguished Scholars, and 93 completed a Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway in a career-focused field. The Class of 2026’s top academic performer and valedictorian is Vincent Kim, while Lauren Gei was named Hawk of the Year. Congratulations, Golden Hawks!
