“WE Are Silent” is the Travis Ranch School WE Club’s largest campaign of the year. On Thursday, May 12, students pledged to remain silent for up to 24 hours, taking “a silent stand for everyone who is being bullied, exploited or denied their rights.”
Students collected $1,931, and all proceeds will go to a chosen country and pillar. WE Club has chosen to contribute this money to Sierra Leone in the area of health.
Teacher adviser Paola Hellwig and parent representative Carrie Johnson lead the 60+ member group through monthly meetings and multiple service/charity events throughout the year. This year alone, WE Club has donated over $2,000 to Sierra Leone, 1,444 canned food items to the district food pantry, 900 winter clothing items and 587 stuffed animals to the Orange County Rescue Mission.
Since the start of the Travis Ranch WE Club four years ago, students have donated over $10,000, close to 3,500 food items and over 2,700 items to local shelters. The “WE” in the school’s WE Club is not an acronym – it stands for “WE can do anything we set our minds to do. WE can make a difference in the world.”
Thank you for all you do WE Club! WE Club members know that they are never too young to make an impact in our world.
