A number of PYLUSD elementary schools recently received additional recognition from the California Department of Education beyond the 2016 California Gold Ribbon Schools Award they were honored with in April.
Gold Ribbon schools that are also Title I schools were recognized with an Academic Achieving School Award. This distinction is given only to schools receiving federal Title I funds that aid in meeting the educational needs of students living at or below the poverty level. Congratulations to Morse Elementary School, Rio Vista Elementary School, Ruby Drive Elementary School and Tynes Elementary School for being awarded the Title I Academic Achieving School Award in addition to their Gold Ribbon award!
Additionally, Travis Ranch School wrote a separate proposal, and has been awarded the Exemplary Arts Education Program Award.
These awards were created in 2013 to celebrate those schools carrying out the goals in State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson’s “A Blueprint or Great Schools” report.
Kudos to Morse, Rio Vista, Ruby Drive, Tynes and Travis Ranch for earning these well-deserved honors.
