During Dr. Domene’s visit, Principal Deby Six presented her PYLUSD challenge coin to Special Day Class (SDC) Teacher Kathy Edison. Principal Six commented:

“Kathy and I first worked together when she was selected to create the new PYLUSD Adult Transition Program in 2007. From the beginning, her dedication to students and her collaborative spirit with her coworkers were evident. In developing student workplace jobs in the community and creating a curriculum that was meaningful to young adults, she laid the foundation for the outstanding Venture Academy. Upon returning to the George Key School Adult Transition Program, Kathy has continued to focus on students’ needs and fostering their independence, while being innovative in managing extremely challenging behaviors. She demonstrates compassion and excellence on a daily basis. It is a privilege working with Kathy. She demonstrates all of the PYLUSD core values every day.”
