Last Friday and Saturday night, Lakeview Elementary School had their very first school-wide play, Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka Junior. It was absolutely adorable to watch – student performance was top notch! On Friday night only, a handful of Lakeview teachers also participated during intermission by reading a poem by Alyssa Finley, which read:
Over the mountains of Hershey tint
Beyond the forest of peppermint
More sour than pounds of Lemonheads
Higher than vines of Twizzler shredsLonger than shores of Pop Rocks
Taller than trees of lollipops
Thicker than chewy taffy stalks
Bigger than cotton candy Ring PopsCooler than a Winterfresh breeze
Hotter than Mike & Ike’s Hot Tamales
Stronger than a Jawbreaker’s pain
More colorful than a Skittle rainAll the children’s wish come true
To dive in piles of sweets and goo
So be prepared for sticky hands
This child’s going to Candy Land!
The play was held at the district’s Performing Arts Center (PAC). Lakeview is looking forward to making this a yearly tradition!
