On Thursday, June 2, Tynes Elementary School held its final English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) meeting. More than 230 students were invited to celebrate the wonderful progress made in reading this year. It was a packed house, with 136 families coming to watch their son or daughter receive an award for meeting their end-of-year reading goals. In addition, the students were invited to pick out new books generously donated by families from Travis Ranch School. ELAC Coordinator Guilermina Flores-Magana spoke to the families about the importance of reading over the summer to maintain their skills, and provided all students with a reading packet. Tynes is so happy to celebrate the 3 percent growth in reading scores this year! Excellent job students!
